It is very exciting for me to pick up a package from the mailbox that is addressed to the Golden Museum because we never know what treasures it will contain. Information in the following article was shared by Jean Blaine, a member of the Bergenham family.

Turning back the pages: Winter festivals

As far back as Golden's history is recorded, we have played host to almost every kind of winter festival known to man. Many were probably created by cabin fever and were only celebrated once and then dropped for various reasons.

December 2020 will mark the 20th Anniversary of the opening of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and I thought it might be interesting to share a bit of the story of how it all began.

Well, I started this off with the best of intentions, but anyone who has ever sat in front of an old newspaper looking for a single piece of news knows how easy it is to get sidetracked.

Turning back the pages: Golden in 1963

While researching information for a local family, I was looking in the Golden Star from 1963 and was amazed at how many things happened in Golden in that year. It was also a little scary thinking about how many of those events I remembered from personal knowledge. Buildings were built, people passed away, groups were formed and sidewalks laid.
