Coins For Kids raises more than $3,200

A $2,500 donation by workers from BC Ferries helped the Chronicle's Coins For Kids campaign reach $3,264.30.

The BC Ferries employees of Duke Point, Departure Bay and Terminal Maintenance recently brought in $2,529.80 for the Coins For Kids campaign. Ladysmith Secondary School (LSS)’s senior girls’ volleyball team finished seventh at a tournament at Gulf Islands Secondary School (GISS) Sept. 20-21. The Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery installed a new banner last week above the gallery’s entrance. Kathy Holmes, president of the Ladysmith and District Arts Council, said the banner was sponsored through an Arts BC initiative designed “to get British Columbians out and enjoying art.” The arts council created the banner using a pair of canvasses four feet high and 15 feet long. A local artist drew up the spring-themed motif, which was then painted by children from Stz’uminus First Nation, the Ladysmith Boys and Girls Club and members of Ladysmith’s Parks and Recreation youth program, said Holmes.

The Ladysmith Secondary School (LSS) 49ers Grade 8 girls basketball team ended its season with a 29-21 loss to the Cedar Secondary School Spartans Feb. 19 at the Districts in Cedar. The loss followed a 24-12 win over Kwalikum Secondary School on Feb. 18, where Meryssa Joyce scored 14 points for the 49ers.

Ladysmith Secondary School's Grade 8 girls basketball team suffered a close loss to Cedar at the Districts Feb. 19 to end the season.

The Ladysmith Secondary School (LSS) 49ers Grade 8 girls basketball team ended its season with a 29-21 loss to the Cedar Secondary School Spartans Feb. 19 at the Districts in Cedar. The loss followed a 24-12 win over Kwalikum Secondary School on Feb. 18, where Meryssa Joyce scored 14 points for the 49ers.
