K’san Performing Arts headed to China for cultural exchange

The K’san Performing Arts has been invited to participate and perform in a Cultural Exchange Project in Chengdu China with Mosuo Communities in Lu Gu Lake and Li Jiang in June of this year. Organizer Shirley Muldon said they are seeking funding as this invitation is one to amazing to pass by.

Residents fight rezoning

The debate over rezoning a residential lot to a commercial one in New Hazelton is heating up as the residents voice their concerns about having an Italian fishing lodge in the middle of their neighbourhood.

The parcels of land recently approved for rezoning are on the north side of Highway 16 in New Hazelton between 7th Avenue and 9th Avenue.

Potential rezoning worries

There is a growing concern amongst some New Hazelton residents recently who were informed about the potential rezoning of a parcel of land on 7th Avenue. Several residents attended the last town council meeting to voice their concerns but a decision to vote on the rezoning was postponed until the next meeting.

Record turnout at South Hazelton meeting

The South Hazelton Community Association had the best turnout yet at their monthly meeting last Monday. More than 20 residents came out to hear what the five members of the Kitimat-Stikine Regional District had to say and ask questions.
