The Northern Building Awards were given out in Prince George on April 26 in celebration of the best in building projects in northern British Columbia during the past two years.
There were 25 commercial nominees from all over northern B.C., from 100 Mile House to Prince George, and from Terrace to Fort St. John and Fort St. James.
Awards were awarded in the commercial/residential, industrial, renovation/restoration, wood/log buildings and retail categories.
The 100 Mile House Branch Library received an award for the commercial buildings category in wood/log buildings.
Cariboo Regional District chair Al Richmond accepted the award on behalf of the CRD board.
Noting the committee was very impressed when viewing the building, Richmond says he was very happy and pleased with the award, as it is a testament to local craftsmanship.
An honourable mention went to the South Cariboo Business Centre in 100 Mile House in commercial renovation/restoration category.
Building owner Konrad Schmid-Meil says he was quite happy to receive the honourable mention, and notes he has done many upgrades to improve the building for his tenants.
Being a director of the B.C. Northern Real Estate Board Commercial Division, Schmid-Meil says he was instrumental in the creation of this award now in its second year.
