2018 Business Excellence Awards open for nominations

Nominees can be businesses, individuals, or organizations from Penticton or the local area

Nominations have opened for the Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce’s 31st annual Business Excellence Awards.

The chamber uses the awards to recognize businesses and individuals for their work in setting the standard for excellence in their respective fields.

There are 15 awards this year, and they will be presented at the gala on Oct. 13, in the east ballroom at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. The chamber will kick off the gala with a champagne sponsor reception, presented by Western News.

“This year the members chose the Denim and Diamonds Gala theme so we are sure to see lots of boots, jeans and bling,” said Kim Kirkham, executive director of the chamber. “Get your tickets early, this is the Penticton business event you don’t want to miss.”

After the presentation of the awards, there will be a live auction. Silent auction bidding will also be going on during the gala. Early bird tickets for the gala will be on sale from Aug. 15 until Sept. 5. Individual tickets are $85 and a table of eight is $625.

Nominations are open for anyone to submit a business, organization, or individual.

Categories for awards include business awards, such as the Tourism Excellence Award for contributions in Penticton’s tourism sector, as well as individual awards, including the Community Volunteer of the Year and Young Business Leader of the Year awards.

The nominations are open until Sept. 5 and close at noon on that day. The recipients of the awards are selected from the nominees by the award selection committee, made up of local business and community leaders.
