The staff at the Starbucks kiosk inside Safeway have earned a service award for a perfect record in a mystery shopper program.

“We’re proud of them,” said Charlotte Penner, in charge of service support for Safeway on Vancouver Island.

Penner travelled from Duncan, where she is based, to present the Port Alberni employees with flowers for the Safeway Starbucks Team 20/20 Service Success achievement.

Employees who received the award include operator Kim Forrester, assistant operator Deanna Goundan and baristas Angela Hodgson, Whitney Hicks, Rhylie Lee and Sara Robichaud.

The Port Alberni Safeway kiosk received 100 per cent marks, covering for each employee, on 20 different occasions, Penner said. Mystery shoppers are given specific drinks to order or products to purchase, then rate the customer service they receive.

“That’s a great achievement for the Island,” Penner added.

Nine of Safeway’s 12 stores in this district have kiosks that participate in the mystery shopper program.
