Fire, Book 2 of The Chronicles of Mineria is now completed and Lac la Hache author Bonita Forsyth will be at the Nuthatch Books for a book signing event on Sept. 24 from 1 to 3 p.m.
This popular children’s author now has eight books to her credit. Not only is Forsyth an accomplished writer, but she also does all the illustrations in her books.
“My original intent was to create humourous adventures for animals to help young children gain an appreciation for our amazing Canadian wildlife.”
Like many authors, she used to be a teacher. Several years ago, Forsyth took a leave of absence from her 20-year teaching career to devote more time to her wildlife painting and discovered a way to combine both talents into a very satisfying new career as a children’s author and illustrator.
“The growing awareness of the intermediate students’ fascination with fantasy adventures inspired me to create a series of books for the more mature readers.”
Forsyth adds she uses the same characters from her picture books to unite the earlier books with the novels.
The third and final book of The Chronicles of Mineria is on the drawing board, and Forsyth says she is planning to have it released in the fall of 2012.
