The Kelowna Firefighters Charitable Society paid a surprise visit to the A&W restaurant on Leathead Road in Kelowna this week to deliver a $1,000 donation in support of the restaurant chain’s fundraiser Breath Of Life Day taking place Saturday i support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
Claude Uzelman, Kelowna A&W franchise owner, accepted the donation, expressing his appreciation on behalf of all the participating A&Ws in the Central Okanagan, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, and all the infants, children and young adults living with Cystic Fibrosis.
“Thank you to the Kelowna Firefighters Charitable Society,” Uzelman said.
This is the 6th year this fund raiser has been held in conjunction with the local A&W restaurants. Last year, just over $43,000 was raised. Uzelman said this year’s goal is to reach $50,000.
In support of the Breath Of Life Day campaign, participating A&W restaurants will donate $1 from every burger sold to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. There are also fun and games planned along with scheduled visits by the Great Root Bear.
The participating restaurants are located in Westbank, Winfield, Vernon, Armstrong, Salmon Arm, Kamloops and Ladysmith.
