All signage has been completed as well as new bright blue exterior paint and crisp clean interior paint.

“The new interior paint has brightened and freshened everything up,” said Ashley Greenwood, Best Buy general manager.

“It has done wonders for the morale of the store and the engagement of the staff. It was the face-lift and re-branding that everyone was looking for.”

In March, Best Buy Co. announced it was closing 66 Future Shop locations across Canada and converting 65 Future Shop stores into Best Buy outlets.

The content of the Vernon store has  seen some changes.

There are expanded departments due to their popularity, including wearable technology, like electronic watches that tether into smart phones, smart home automation, major appliances, and a mobile phone department that features seven different providers.

The staff numbers are slightly higher then when the store was a Future Shop.

“The energy and engagement of the staff is at an all time high and that trickles down to our customers’ experience and that is our No. 1 goal as Best Buy,” said Greenwood.

The grand opening is Friday and a lucky customer will win a $500 gift card.

“It is a great opportunity for the local community and supporting communities to come in and really experience the new Best Buy,” said Greenwood.
