Black Press Extreme Career Fair features TED-type talks

Companies have 15 minutes on the main stage in Courtenay to pitch their business. It's part of a day full of opportunity.

The Black Press Extreme Career Fair, taking place Feb. 9 in Courtenay, will feature “Ted Talk”-style presentations at the Florence Filberg Centre throughout the day. Numerous companies will take the stage for 15-minute pitches, explaining the benefits of joining their respective teams.

Hub Barton Insurance, North Island Employment Foundations Society, Quality Foods, Westland Insurance, Home Depot, Marine Harvest and Black Press will all have individual presentations during the day.

North Island College and Discovery Community College will have their own stage times as well, presenting prospective students with resources to make a sound choice regarding any career training/education decisions.

“The presentations will be on the main stage at the Filberg Centre. We will have chairs in the area and people can get comfortable, and listen to the presentations, while the Career Fair is going on,” said Dave Hamilton, Black Press group publisher, North Island Division.

“Each presentation will be 15 minutes, and it will be followed by 15 minutes of answering questions; engagement from the crowd. The presentations will begin at 9:30 and run throughout the day on stage. Meanwhile, there will be individual company booths set up throughout both levels of the Filberg Centre, as well as at the Native Sons Hall.”
