A Summerland auto body shop has received an award for customer satisfaction.

Alder Street Auto Body Ltd. received the 2011 AutocheX Premier Achiever Award for its service.

AutocheX is a third-party company which measures customer satisfaction at body shops.

Alder Street was one of 15 B.C. shops to receive the award, which puts it in the top five per cent of shops across North America.

“We’re extremely proud of the 15 shops that have consistently made customer service a top priority,” said Darcy Gorchynski, ICBC’s director of material damage services. “We know our customers want to get back on the road as fast as possible while knowing their car’s received top-quality repairs. We’re committed to working with our collision repair partners to make sure our customers have the best experience possible.”

Kelsey Van Alphen, owner of the body shop, said the workers at the shop take customer service seriously.

“We have an excellent staff,” he said. “We have a system we use and we stick with it.”

Jay Mathers, manager of the shop, said most of the winning body shops are small, family-run operations which work on providing good quality to their customers.

He added that the owners and staff work to maintain their reputation as a business with good customer service.

The shop was started in 1991 by Marty and Linda Van Alphen. Over the years, the shop has sponsored many local fundraisers.
