Karilyn Kempton was hired as the City of Revelstoke’s technology strategy coordinator.
Kempton has a background in marketing and communications and manages communications for the Canadian Avalanche Association. She is the vice-chair of Community Futures Revelstoke and sits on the city’s Social Development Committee.
She is also the founder of the Stoke List, the popular online classified website.
The city received $100,000 in funding from the provincial Rural Dividend Program and $30,000 from the Economic Opportunity Program to fund the position over two years.
Her duties include promoting Revelstoke as a tech-friendly community, supporting existing technology companies to help them grow, liaising between the schools and the tech community, and working to attract technology businesses to Revelstoke.
