Local building numbers continue to climb, but remain  below the ten year average.

To the end of July this year,  almost $7 million worth of building permits have been issued. This number is up from last year’s figures to the end of July which were just less than $5.5 million.

Both of these numbers are lagging behind the 10-year  average for July, which puts the value of building permits at  more than $8.3 million generally by this time of year.

One increase for 2011 is the nine single residential permits adding up to more than $2 million. In 2010 there where no permits of this type.

The total value of the 18 permits issued for the month of July was $132,598. To the end of July last year there were more permits issued, 24, but the value of those permits was lower at $818, 700.  There were 26 permits this June for a value of $1.35 million, lower than the 31 permits in June 2010 valued at $3 million.
