Business After Business visits Ward Street Place

Nelson Cares invited the business community to one of its newly renovated Ward Street Place apartments this week.

The Chamber of Commerce’s regular Business After Business group met for refreshments and socializing this week in a newly renovated apartment at Ward Street Place.

“Ward Street Place is run by Nelson Cares as a social enterprise,” said Nelson Cares executive director Jenny Robinson.  “It is a business, and we wanted to welcome the business community in, to demonstrate our commitment to being a business partner in the community and also to demonstrate our commitment to refurbishing the commercial space that Ward Street Place offers the community.

“This is one of three apartments on Victoria Street,” she said. “It is a 100 year old apartment but it doesn’t look like that any more. It is fully accessible: it is at street level, everything is lower, all the light switches are below level, the counter-tops below level, there is full radius for wheelchairs.”
