Simon Daniells and his wife Hayley Waugh are filling a need for high quality consignment clothing with their shop at Victoria Quay. Simon runs the Pulse Yoga Club studio at the same location and will continue with his popular classes.
Out front though look for the expanded space with high quality clothes and accessories for teens, men and women of all sizes.
“We are keeping it really high fashion,” says Daniels. “This is not a thrift store. Hayley has always been into high fashion. ”
The clothing in stock right now has come from about 30 local shoppers, some Nanaimo consigners and estate items. Homemade jewelry, purses, shoes and other accessories round out the fashion looks.
Those buying and selling can check out the merchandise online at www.the-pyc.com. There consigners can see if their items have sold and shoppers can view the merchandise and even purchase it online.
For those who are already members of Pulse Yoga Club, there’s a 20 percent discount on purchases and 50 percent consignment deal instead of 30 percent.
PYC Consignment is open Monday to Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Food, tea and health are dear to Richard Michalenko’s heart and now he is putting his heart into a new tea shop on Margaret Street next to the Alberni Valley News.
Teaz Me Teas is now open offering unique tea blends, home baked goodies, snacks and full vegetarian/vegan meal items to enjoy with tea, gluten free and vegetarian options and hand blended juices/smoothies made with maple water.
Michalenko believes in farm to plate and keeping it local. He will use locally sourced food items as much as he is able. He is offering local aboriginal blend teas used for healing, and his own tea blends. He’ll create unique blends for clients as well on request.
Teas are sold by weight, by the cup or pot and can be hot or iced.
Michalenko says his own health issues and those of his family, especially his father, inspired him to learn more about the health benefits of tea.
“It’s an emotional thing for me,” adds Michalenko, who was involved in the food and beverage industry in Vancouver for many years. Born and raised in Port Alberni, he is happy to be home surrounded by family and the richness of the Alberni Valley.
He likes to be hands-on with his ingredients and suppliers so Teaz Me Teas will be closed on Tuesdays while Michalenko visits local farms. Otherwise he is open Monday to Wednesday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. with a midday break.
