Alberni Toyota has been ranked No. 1 of 248 stores in the country by Toyota Canada for top sales operations in 2017. The dealership was scored monthly on criteria that included customer experience, new and used vehicle sales and product knowledge.

Rachel Rose at Ocean Valley Ink is celebrating her first year in business. The tattoo artist has had a busy first year, plying her art with custom designs and getting involved in the community.
“We did henna at the Five Acre Shaker, as well for the Bike Rodeo, we sponsored the burnout competition at Thunder in the Valley, we also raced our car in the soapbox race Little Lightning in the Valley and won for Best Custom Rig,” says Rose. “We are planning to have a air guitar competition this summer with cool prizes as well.”
Business has been so busy that Rose has invited tattoo artist Shevaun Nicole into the shop, who shares her vision.
“I have been working really hard to turn the idea of tattoo shop life into a family friendly environment as I have kids and do tattoo work for others with families,” says Rose.
“I want our customers to feel like getting a tattoo can be not just a personal one-on-one experience but a experience they can share with their children and loved ones as we have a play area for the kids and a nice seating area where you can play board games.”

The Kingsway Hotel is closed for the next few weeks for renovations. They celebrated a “farewell to the Kingsway as we know it” with live music Friday, Feb. 23. The hotel hopes to reopen mid-April. For updates check the Kingsway Hotel Facebook page.

Naomi Nicholson of Secluded Wellness Centre was pleased to announce the opening of her new building the end of January. The building currently is home to the wellness centre but Nicholson says more is coming soon with a conference room being completed later this spring and possibly a B&B style accommodation in the future. Orest Iwaszko of Alberni Charters piqued interest on his Facebook page with the announcement that Alberni Charters has purchased the former kayak rental and ice cream shop on River Road across from Clutesi Haven Marina.
“We are in the process of renovations to bring it back to its former glory,” posted Iwaszko. “A transformation is in the works.”
