BUSINESS COLUMN: Out and about

From the Best of the Westshore to the 11th annual Chili Cook Off

The inaugural vote for the Best of the Westshore has been launched in the Goldstream Gazette and you have until Sept. 30 to cast your votes.

We are looking for readers to let us know who they believe to be the best business or the best service on the West Shore. The votes will be tabulated and the results announced in late October at an event hosted by the WestShore Chamber of Commerce and the Goldstream Gazette; stay tuned for more information.

This weekend, Millstream Village hosts the 11th annual Chili Cook Off in conjunction with the Rotary Club of West Shore. On Saturday, Aug. 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., local businesses will be on hand to let you sample their best chili recipe and have you vote for  your favourite.

All money raised from this event will be given to the New Hope School in Uganda and the Westshore RCMP Community Van.

At Westshore Town Centre Saturday, Aug. 28 and Sunday, Aug. 29, join the Dahlia Society for their annual show and view hundreds of interesting and unique blooms on display throughout the centre.

In business news, as Milton Stuart of Stuart Hardwood Flooring prepares to retire after 35 years of installing unfinished, pre-finished or laminate flooring, he is passing the reigns of his successful business over to his son Tim Stuart.

“We are detail-oriented and love what we do, and have been doing a great job for years; it made sense for me to continue the family business,” Stuart says. Give them a call at 250-415-5935 or email at stuarthardwoodflooring@gmail.com. Let them turn your living space into something beautiful.
