Two new Campbell River buildings won awards at the Commercial Building Awards last week while one earned a runner-up recognition.
The Broadstreet Properties and Seymour Pacific Developments building was awarded the top honour at the eighth Annual Vancouver Island Real Estate Board Commercial Building Awards Thursday, April 23 at the Coast Bastion Hotel.
Broadstreet and Seymour Pacific earned the Judges’ Choice honour for Best Overall Entry as well as the Excellence Award in the Office category of the gala.
Berwick by the Sea won an excellence award for a multi-family building while Oak Manor, the new apartment complex off 2nd Avenue was given a merit award (runner-up) for multi-family.
There were a total of 34 entries from the Cowichan Valley to Campbell River represented at the gala.
A team of independent judges assessed each of the projects in 11 categories that were completed between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2014.
Re/MAX Commercial was the Platinum Sponsor for the event, with Colliers International and Coastal Community Credit Union in as Gold Sponsors. Category sponsors included the Business Development Bank of Canada, Canadian Western Bank, DTZ Barnicke, RBC Royal Bank, MNP LLP, and the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation, Invest Comox Valley and the Vancouver Island Construction Association (VICA). Business Examiner Vancouver Island coordinated the event.
