The Castlegar and District Chamber of Commerce has received funding to hire a COVID-19 business recovery advisor.
The one-year, part-time position has been filled by Christina Allen who is available for one-on-one advice and support to assist local businesses as they recover from the pandemic.
This initiative is supported by a business recovery committee inclusive of the City of Castlegar, RDCK Areas I and J, the Chamber of Commerce, Destination Castlegar and representatives from the business community.
This new service will be offered free of charge.
“Nearly 70 per cent of all B.C. businesses have relied on support from various levels of government though the COVID pandemic,” said Allen in an introductory letter to the business community. “We are at a critical stage in economic recovery.”
She says her role is to advise, support, facilitate new ideas, make connections and help businesses find additional support when required.
Allen will also be collecting data about the current state of local business, the types of support that were helpful during the pandemic and what businesses need in the months of recovery ahead to be successful.
