Centre maps out recreation activities

The Penticton and Wine Country Visitor Centre is busily preparing for one of its most exciting seasons yet. A great feature for this season is our unique and comprehensive Outdoor Recreation map. This map offers topographical representation of the South Okanagan with hiking/biking trails, sites for bird-watching, scuba diving, and much more.

This year, the Meadowlark Festival will be co-ordinating many of its annual events from the parking lot of the Wine Country Visitor Centre.  Be sure to visit the Vancouver Aquarium’s AquaVan on Saturday in the parking lot.

Community Futures is hosting a luncheon June 7 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Penticton Lakeside Resort with guest speaker Kari Yuers, president and CEO of Kryton International Inc.

Kryton develops, manufactures and markets a wide range of products that waterproof, repair and protect concrete structures. Kari will speak about the steps she took to grow her small family business into an international multi-million dollar company and the valuable expertise of other entrepreneurs that contributed to her knowledge along the way. Penticton and Wine Country Tourism is sporting a refreshed logo and has just launched its new website, www.tourismpenticton.com, featuring a more emotive and interactive experience for visitors, including “share” and “like” features for activities and accommodations, enhanced links to social media channels and more comprehensive online booking experiences for those operators with online booking capabilities and TripAdvisor.

Along with the new website, a fully-integrated campaign promoting 2011 travel to Penticton was also just kicked off in Penticton’s gateway markets of the Lower Mainland, Calgary and Edmonton. Check out the new site today and tell all your out-of-town friends.
