NANAIMO – Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce showcases Harbour City to B.C. in May.

By Susan Allen

Spring is in full swing in Nanaimo and the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce is excited to showcase Nanaimo to B.C. in May.

The B.C. chamber’s annual general meeting takes place in Nanaimo from May 23-25 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.

This conference draws more than 250 business leaders from across the province for three full days of speakers, panel discussions, presentations and networking. The AGM and conference is the forum for chamber members to gather and debate policies, which will create the B.C. chamber’s advocacy efforts for the following year.

This establishes the “voice of business in B.C.” Speakers such as Maryscott Greenwood, who serves in McKenna Long and Aldridge’s Washington, D.C., office as a senior managing director on the international trade and public affairs team, and Bruce Anderson, one of Canada’s most experienced research professionals and a leading national commentator on trends in public opinion and politics.

We will also see Bill Good, Keith Baldry and Vaughn Palmer live as they hold their program, Cutting Edge of the Leg, live for AGM delegates.

As the host community we are working to provide opportunities for the delegates to come early and stay on after the conference to enjoy other amenities.

The Nanaimo chamber will be hosting a golf tournament at Fairwinds Golf Course on May 22.  This tournament is open to all chamber members, the community as well as delegates coming to attend the conference.  It is a great opportunity to interact with business leaders from all over B.C.

If you would like more information on how to become a sponsor or a participant, call us and speak with Marsha Weaver.

There is also an opportunity for our community to be involved as the B.C. chamber hosts a trade show throughout the conference.
