Chamber of Commerce meeting draws those interested in social media marketing

If you have the proper Facebook page you can have paid ads that target a certain group of people with a special message.

On June 9, Clearwater and District Chamber of Commerce held a general meeting at Dutch Lake Community Centre. The meeting started off with newly-elected president Jon Kreke giving a report that the Chamber’s desk at the Wells Gray Infocentre is up and running. He also mentioned the possible re-introduction of the annual event held during Small Business Week in October, maybe with a different name.

A short business meeting was held and guest speaker Jarrod Goddard, CEO of Net Shift Media and GeekPro’s Technical Services of Kamloops, spoke on how social media can help your business promote your products with very little cost involved in advertising.

He mentioned that Google has a database on just about everything in the world. If you have a website it must be mobile-friendly and work on most cellphones. If it is not mobile-friendly then you should find a way to make it friendly so that travellers can access it while they are here (possibly looking for your business).

He also mentioned that if you are listed with Yellow Pages you have a much better chance of being found on Google searches.

Jarrod then went on the explain the difference between Facebook pages, groups and a person. Facebook can grow your ranking on Google searches. It also keeps track of how many times someone “likes” or “comments” on your pages.
