Money really does grow on trees, according to operations manager Ralph Myhill-Jones at the local TIM-BR Mart store.
He tallied $1,000 in donations for Christmas trees the store provided as a fundraiser for the 100 Mile House & District Women’s Centre Society.
Myhill-Jones and several other people spent a weekend cutting down trees on a neighbour’s property and made them available at the store with a suggested minimum donation of $10.
“It was a great success and lots of people came in specifically to get involved,” he says. “We’ll definitely look at doing it again next year.”
Prior to Christmas, half the cash was handed over to the Women’s Centre to assist them with filling charity hampers. The remainder will be used by the centre as it sees fit.
