Cardboard boxes stage an invasion every Christmas, storming living rooms all across the Okanagan and wreaking havoc on homeowners’ schedules.
This time of year, you should have to worry about stuffing a turkey, not stuffing your recycling bin to the brim.
That’s why one local business has decided to borrow Santa’s sleigh after the big morning and fill it with your used cardboard.
Until Jan. 31, 2016, Bin There Dump That will come to your home, pick up your holiday cardboard, and recycle it for $11.99 plus tax for residential pick-up.
For families who love the look and smell of a real Christmas tree, Bin There Dump That can give you a joyful holiday with half the hassle.
“I find that after the holidays you just want your house back,” said Bin There Dump That co-owner Tanya Storey. “But often, once you get your cardboard and Christmas trees outside, it’ll just stay there because it doesn’t fit in a bin.
“You can drop off a Christmas tree at a few places around town, but it’s easier to have it picked up.”
Best yet, Bin There Dump That is getting into the giving spirit of the season. For every cardboard cleanout ordered between now and Jan. 31, the company will donate $2 to the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank.
With the food bank’s buying power, that $2 donation amounts to $6 worth of food for a local family in need.
