To celebrate Small Business Week (Oct. 19-25), Community Futures North Okanagan is hosting several free training workshops on Tuesday, Oct. 21 and Wednesday, Oct. 22.
The Tuesday session, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., will provide valuable information presented by an employment standards expert about employer requirements. A labour lawyer will discuss labour contracts, hiring and how to avoid litigation.
Finally, a human resources expert will outline necessary management tools, how to interview for success and employee retention strategies.
The Wednesday session will be broken into two parts, the first (9:30-11:30 a.m.) covering online branding. It will cover the differences between digital marketing and social media marketing. It will also walk participants through the do’s and don’ts of social media and how it fits into your marketing plan.
The second session (1-3 p.m.) discusses different ways employers can attract, engage and retain workers from a diverse range of sources.
The workshops will be held at the Community Futures building (3105 33rd St).
