CP Rail has launched a faster transcontinental service, offering improved shipping times from Vancouver to Toronto and Chicago.
In a Sept. 17 media release, CP said the new schedules will reduce the 4,200-kilometre trip to Toronto from about five days to four. It will reduce the 3,500-kilometre trip to Chicago from about six days to four.
“With lower dwell times in our terminals, more efficient transit times, and optimized asset utilization, we can provide this improved service,” said Canadian Pacific Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Jane O’Hagan. “As part of the global supply chain we want to help our customers be more competitive in the markets they serve.”
CP said the changes resulted from “a complete redesign of the railway’s transcontinental package.”
