Cruise the ‘mous: Bike rental business hits Sicamous streets

Hooked Bike Rentals has set up shop at the Bruhn Crossing Urban Market

A new bike rental business is aiming to get people hooked on Sicamous.

Hooked Bike Rentals is open for business at the Bruhn Crossing Urban Market, which is at 1214 Riverside Avenue in Sicamous.

Its owner is Leanne Komaryk, who also owns Hooked Decor & What Knots, a store that sells home decor, souvenirs and more that’s run out of a renovated houseboat off Highway 1.

Komaryk thought of doing bike rentals when she was looking to expand and market her business.

“With the rail trail coming in the next couple of years, I thought this would be a great time to start,” said Komaryk.

She said Sicamous is an easy-riding town with lots of nature trails and there are also heritage spots and ice cream parlors around town that are popular bike stops.

Komaryk said she gives bike renters a map of where to check out and estimates they could tour Sicamous in two to three hours on her colourful cruiser bikes.

At her Bruhn Crossing location, Komaryk has an assortment of decor items for sale, as well as merchandise from her new Hooked on Sicamous brand.

She said Hooked on Sicamous clothes have been top sellers and that Mayor Terry Rysz stopped in and bought a t-shirt on July 1.

“I’ve lived in Sicamous since 2005, I’m definitely hooked,” said Komaryk.
