Save-On-Foods was giving away free cupcakes on May 28 in celebration of all British Columbia stores hitting the BC Children’s Hospital fundraiser goal.
In 2007, The Overwaitea Food Group made a pledge to Child Health of British Columbia to raise $20 million each year for the BC Children’s Hospital. The goal was met in early May and then exceeds to the total of $30 million.
The 100 Mile Save-On-Foods raised $12,733 towards the cause through hotdog sales, golf sales and donations from customers.
“We couldn’t have done this without our loyal customers and great work from our employees,” says store manager Richard Bullen.
In addition, Save-On-Foods stores raised more than $340,000 for the Fort McMurray Red Cross fire relief campaign with $2,800 coming from the 100 Mile store. This was a separate donation from the $150,000 donated by the company directly.
