Deadlines announced for pre-budget consultations

M.P. Cathy McLeod recently announced that the federal government is asking Canadians for input on Budget 2012

Kamloops – Cathy McLeod, Member of Parliament for Kamloops – Thompson – Cariboo and member of the Standing Committee on Finance, recently announced that the federal government is asking Canadians for input on Budget 2012.

“Last January it was my very great pleasure to host Finance Minister Jim Flaherty at a roundtable pre-budget consultation in Kamloops” said McLeod. “I was happy to see that a number of suggestions brought forward by local businesses and individuals were included in Budget 2011. As we look ahead to Budget 2012 and the next phase of our Economic Action Plan, I am once again asking people from our communities to bring their ideas forward.”

McLeod said businesses, organizations and individuals can participate through submissions made in person or in writing.  These submissions will help inform the committee’s pre-budget recommendations.

However, the deadlines to participate are fast-approaching. July 29th is the deadline to apply to appear in-person, as this fall the committee is scheduled to visit numerous cities across Canada. Aug. 12 is the deadline for written submissions. Written submissions should be no longer than five pages in length, with up to three recommendations on taxes, potential new investments, or cost savings related to the federal government.

For both applications to appear in-person and written submissions, please contact the Clerk of the Finance Committee at:
