As of today, (Thursday) Lakeshore Bakery is open in the food court in Orchard Park Mall. It is part of a family company started in Saskatoon by Geoffrey Mack more than 25 years ago. Now, with 150 locations under the Flaming Wok group of companies, this is its first bakery and café with an emphasis on scratch homemade cooking. Willem Semmelink has joined Summerhill Pyramid Winery as its new vineyard manager. Willem is a graduate of the University of Cape Town, having lived in South African since childhood. I tried the fish and chips, which were made from pickerel, a different twist on the regular fish and chips. It was excellent. I also tried the duck confit Quesadilla, with a delicious side salad full of nuts, fruit, and feta cheese. It was also delicious.
