Westbank is celebrating its 110th anniversary since the community was founded Aug. 17, 2013. The book Heart of a Toastmaster features 133 contributing members of Toastmasters International around the world.Stories by two Kelowna women have been chosen to be included among them. Theresa Shaver’s story “I Love to Talk” is one local entry and the other is by Jan Mills, titled “Turning Disability Into Ability.” As well a photo contributed by Mills is featured on the cover of the book. Both Mills and Shaver are members of the Okanagan Advanced Toastmasters Club. I know Mills and her story is truly an inspiration to those readers who want to make a difference in the world. Shaver has been a tireless leader in Toastmasters and as Division Governor was appropriately recognized when she achieved her Distinguished Toastmaster Award.
