The Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation has released its third annual report, which highlights regional economic conditions, business successes, tourism activities and other items from the 2014 calendar year.
This report includes economic data which highlights the strength of our regional economy and illustrates our region’s economic diversity.
The business stories highlighted in the document include snapshots of Tilray Medical Cannibis, Helijet, Townsquared social platform and SquareOne Co-Working Space and Startup Incubator.
Tourism also plays a large part of NEDC activities.
As such, the annual report highlights stories including tourism marketing campaigns, visitation and occupancy trends, sport tourism, media coverage, stakeholder programs, visitor servicing and the application of the region’s tourism development fund.
The Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation staff and board would like to express gratitude to our community partners, stakeholders, supporters and the Nanaimo region.

In addition to the release of the report, we were proud to announce and welcome Andre Sullivan as the new chairman of the board of directors.
We also express our gratitude to AJ Hustins, past chairman of the board, for his years of dedicated leadership.
Hustins played a pivotal role in developing the corporation into the powerful economic opportunity engine that it is today.
