Summertime is barbecue season and while many home cooks are getting ready to grill, one local restaurant is receiving provincial attention.
Mission’s Embers BBQ House was the focus of a Vancouver television station’s feature about summer grilling
A camera crew came out this week to profile the local restaurant and get some tips on how to properly grill chicken.
Owner Paul Sharma said it was great to shine the spotlight on Mission.
“We’re really proud to be in Mission, said Sharma who was born and raised here.
“It’s great to give the city some positive exposure.
Sharma, 35, has always loved cooking.
“I’ve always had a passion for food. A passion for cooking and making recipes. I just have my heart and soul in it.”
Embers first opened in 2003 and has steadily grown. It currently has 15-20 full and part-time employees and a loyal following of customers.
Sharma said the television crew found out about the restaurant thanks to online reviews.
Embers is currently ranked as one of the top five restaurants in Mission on the Tripadvisory website.
He said barbecue is a bit of a specialty in the restaurant industry.
“There are special techniques. A lot of people just throw the meat on the grill and let the fire do its thing. We have techniques on braising, barbecuing and smoking.”
All the cooking done in-house and they make their own bread and sauces.
“You walk into our restaurant you’ll experience two smells, fresh bread and barbecue.”
Embers is located at #107-32559 Logan Ave. To see the television feature, click here.
