Enterprize Challenge provides $25,000 package

Entrepreneurship competition offers businesses the opportunity to pitch concepts and win a business package worth nearly $25,000.

If you have a brilliant business idea and the drive to succeed, there is a new program that will offer you the opportunity to Pitch It.

The Community Futures Enterprize Challenge is an entrepreneurship competition designed to provide youth and new businesses the opportunity to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges and win a business package worth nearly $25,000.

Similar to CBC’s Dragons’ Den, Community Futures and VantageOne Credit Union have introduced this program in an effort to support and encourage entrepreneurship in the North Okanagan.

“There will be a category for high school students and another category that will be open to the general public,” said Leigha Horsfield, business services co-ordinator with Community Futures. “Both businesses that have started in 2014 and potential start-ups are encouraged to register.”

Participants will pitch their business concepts in a 10-minute presentation to a panel of judges. The presentation will describe the product or service, the operations of the business and potential markets. A total of five candidates from each category will advance to deliver a final presentation, with the winners announced at an awards event in April.

“Our hope is that budding entrepreneurs with great ideas will participate and get support in starting businesses in our region,” said Horsfield.

The Community Futures Enterprize Challenge 2015 is presented by VantageOne. Other partners and sponsors include: KPMG, Nixon Wenger, Sproing Creative, Real Focus Consulting, City of Vernon, Okanagan College, Futurpreneur Canada and Sun FM.
