Fall festival funnelled $2,200 to Terry Fox Foundation

JD Farms annual customer appreciation raised money towards cancer research.

Ahead of the Terry Fox Run and Thanksgiving, close to 600 people stopped in at JD Farms farmgate operation last weekend to participate in the annual customer appreciation day, but moreover to help raise money for cancer research.

For the 10th year running, the turkey farm held a fall festival that raised money and awareness for the Terry Fox Foundation.

Almost $1,500 was raised, plus JD donated 10 per cent of its sales, bringing the donation to the Terry Fox Foundation to $2,200, said office manager Janice McWilliams.

“Our fall festival, despite the rain, was a resounding success,” she said.

“Wow! We have so many people to thank… Without our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and staff it would not have been possible.”

The event included facepainting, bouncy castles, pony rides, food sampling, cooking demonstrations, and more that brought hundreds out.
