February meeting features Toastmaster presentation

The Comox Valley Home-Based & Small Business Association invites entrepreneurs to its monthly networking meeting Thursday

The Comox Valley Home-Based & Small Business Association invites entrepreneurs to its monthly networking meeting Thursday at the Best Western. There is no charge. Networking is at 6 p.m.

Feature presenter is Katie Healey, area governor for Toastmasters. The presentation will include a demonstration to show how Toastmasters helps build communication and leadership skills through weekly meetings in a supportive and friendly environment.

There will be spotlight presentations from Larrie and Marg Szafron (Prestige Video Transfer) and Russ Ball (Audio Xcellence DJ Services). The Szafrons opened their company in 2005 after seeing a void in the market for services that would convert visual keepsakes—photos, old films, VHS tapes and audio recordings—to make them compatible with current technology. Ball became a professional DJ in 1995 while serving as a technician in the military. He opened Audio Xcellence when he returned to the Comox Valley in 2000. The company provides state-of-the-art sound and a huge array of song selections for events. Big-screen DVD shows are often a highlight at trade shows, fundraisers and private parties.
