Word that a Vancouver-based company had purchased a number of Fields stores across Canada and would be keeping them open aroused hope for some Shuswap residents. However, that hope was fleeting. In response to the Observer’s question if the purchase of about half of B.C.’s Fields stores by FHC Holdings Ltd. might mean a change in the future of the Blind Bay, Chase and Salmon Arm stores, the answer was no. Spokesperson for the Hudson’s Bay Company, Tiffany Bourré, said Friday in an email: “Those three store locations are slated to close May 31st.”
