Residents have until Oct. 5 to vote for their favorite businesses.

If you haven’t voted for your favourite businesses in Burns Lake yet, you have until today, Oct. 5, 2016 at 4 p.m. to do so.

The business excellence awards, held by the Burns Lake and District Chamber of Commerce, help recognize the efforts and achievements of the business community in Burns Lake.

This year, the chamber added four new categories – community impact, tourism excellence, resource industry and home based business of the year.

Other categories include outstanding customer service, community ambassador, ingenuity and innovation, Paul Sandercott business of the year, rookie business of the year, customer service employee of the year and lifetime business achievement.

According to chamber manager Jordanna Evans, as of Sept. 27, the chamber had received approximately 100 votes.

“The awards really boost morale and keep everyone motivated,” said Evans. “It also brings awareness to the community by letting people know what businesses we have in our town and to support them by shopping locally.”

Residents have the option of voting online by visiting http://burnslakechamber.com/2016-business-excellence-awards-finalist-voting/ and completing the online survey, or printing out a finalist voting form from that same web address and returning it to the chamber in person.

The finalists were chosen by the business excellence awards committee, which has eight members including volunteer chamber members.

The awards will be presented on Oct. 15 at the Tweedsmuir Rod and Gun Club. Tickets cost $35 plus GST and are being sold at the chamber.
