First hotel built in Chilliwack in years

It’s the first hotel built from the ground up in Chilliwack in more than two decades.

The Hampton Inn by Hilton Chilliwack quietly opened its doors Sept. 13, with 75 rooms to serve both the leisure and corporate markets.

They’re serious about delivering service, said spokesperson Patricia Lundquist of the Odessa Group, pointing to the 100% Hampton guarantee and a culture of hospitality they call “Hamptonality.”

“There is no other hotel brand that offers complete satisfaction guaranteed,” she said.

Not completely happy with your experience? You won’t be forced to pay.

“The owners have exceeded all the Hilton standards, from fine finishings down to the technical details,” Lundquist said. “They’ve done everything possible to make the customer comfortable.”

There are naturally lit meeting spaces with high-tech hookups, and a well-equipped fitness centre. Clean and fresh beds are provided in every room.

But the star attraction is likely going to be the huge red water slide leading to the pool.

“This is going to be everyone’s favourite room,” Lundquist said about the sunlit pool area which includes a hot tub.

It’s the extra amenities, like a free hot breakfast and high-speed wifi that are unique.

For collectors of loyalty points, they also offer both Hilton Honor points as well as Air Miles of various kinds.

“It’s like a double dip for points, so people aren’t forced to choose.”

Even something as seemingly minor is pillow preference is covered to ensure maximum comfort. Will that be feather or polyester?

Part of the business and marketing plan of the new hotel is aimed at attracting some of the regional hotel traffic to Chilliwack for sporting events, conferences and more.

“When we did our market research, we learned at that time that Chilliwack was losing a significant number of guests to Abbotsford.”

The new Hampton Inn by Hilton property is the first in Chilliwack, and the third Hampton in B.C. There are 40 across Canada, and 1700 Hampton properties in the U.S.

It’s surprisingly serene at the Chilliwack site, set back from the roadway the way it is. Although it’s located in an area with several industrial neighbours and some well-used train tracks, it’s still quiet. Several trees were maintained during the land-clearing process, contributing to the natural setting.

The quiet factor was considered during the construction.

“It’s been insulated to the max,” she added.

The now completed four-storey hotel is phase one of the development. Phase II, which should start next spring, will see commercial tenants, some with drive-throughs, leasing the front portion of the site, known as the 8050. There’s about 30,000 square feet of retail/commercial space available.

The grand opening of the Hampton Inn by Hilton Chilliwack is slated for Oct. 4.
