Attending the March 2-4 Boat & Sportsman Show in Abbotsford was great exposure for the Fishing Highway Tourist Association (FHTA), says association president Manuela Betschart.

“It was a very busy show, I heard that they had record numbers attending,” says Betschart.

“A lot of people already know about our area, they are well aware of the fishing highway,” she says, adding it was very interesting having people come and talk about their experiences up in the South Cariboo.

The FHTA has been in existence for 10-15 years, and went through an inactive period, but she notes people got together to restart the association about 18 months ago.

“It was exciting to be there [Abbotsford]; we had a lot of positive feedback.

The Fishing Highway [Highway 24] runs east from Highway 97 to the junction at the Yellowhead Highway.

Betschart says the association has membership, resorts, service stations, restaurants and realty offices.
