How do we have a good death will be one of the questions addressed in the fifth forum of Kelowna-Lake Country MLA Norm Letnick’s series on health issues.
The free forum takes place Saturday, March 16, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Engineering, Management and Education Building lecture theatre on the UBC Okanagan campus.
Letnick will be joined by Drs. Hal Siden, Carole Robinson and Barb Pesut along with Kelowna lawyer Ross Langford to discuss different stages of dying, share stories on how different families and individuals prepare for and experience death, and what families can do to prepare for this eventuality.
Siden is a clinical associate professor in the department of pediatrics at UBC and is medical director of Canuck Place.
Robinson is an associate professor with the school of nursing at UBC Okanagan and has conducted research in the past aimed at developing interventions that help families manage well with life-limiting illness.
Pesut is also an associate professor with the UBCO school of nursing, who has done research on how to improve care for individuals at end-of-life with a focus on a good death and supporting family caregivers in rural areas.
The forum will take place in the room EME 1121 lecture theatre of the Engineering, Management and Education Building.
