Fulton Field sees fewer passengers in 2017

Kamloops Airport is experiencing a decrease in the number of travellers as the 2017 calendar grows

Kamloops This Week

Unlike years past, Kamloops Airport is experiencing a decrease in the number of travellers as the 2017 calendar grows.

In February, 27,751 people passed through Fulton Field, a 12 per cent drop from February 2016, when the airport welcomed 31,090 passengers. Through the first two months of the year, there has been a 7.9 per cent drop in passenger numbers (57,717 in 2017; 62,232 in 2016).

Fred Legace, the airport’s managing director, said February’s significant fall in the number of air travellers is related to the Alberta market.

“This market is important during the ski season and likely reflects a change in transportation mode from air to vehicle,” Legace said.
