Gary’s Bistro of Qualicum Beach, founded and owned by Gary and Glenys Hopkins, is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary — an impressive achievement for any business.
Gary’s sudden passing last summer was a shock for the many regulars who enjoyed his outgoing personality, warmth and fun-loving spirit. His family and staff are proud to carry on his legacy and continue to offer the same great food and service.
To mark this 20-year milestone, and in memory of Gary, his wife Glenys, daughter Keri and family, and the staff, will celebrate through April with daily specials and weekly prize draws as a thank you to their loyal patrons.
Join the family for a fun-filled party Friday, April 12 complete with live music and prizes.
Reservations for the evening will be required, call 250-752-5800 or stop in at Gary’s Bistro, 115 Second Avenue West.
• Gary’s Bistro will also be serving hot dogs and burgers at the Buddy Holly ’50s Rock’n’Roll Dance Party on Saturday, April 27.
(Editor’s note: word came late Monday that this event is now sold out.)
Presented by the Qualicum Beach Downtown Business Association (QBDBA), the rock ‘n’ roll party will feature tribute artist Zachary Stevenson as Buddy Holly. He and his band will rock the house with music from the 1950s and ’60s along with music by D.J. Patrick Nicholson.
Everyone who remembers dance parties, or wants to experience them for the first time are invited to dance the night away, compete in a jive contest, ’50s costume contest, 50/50 draw and enter to win great prizes.
The QBDBA — market and promote the viability of a healthy and vibrant business core — is organizing the unique and exciting event as a fundraiser for their community efforts.
In memory of Hopkins, a portion of the funds will go towards a donation to the KSS Automotive Program.
The party starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, April 27. There will be a cash bar. Tickets were sold at Fresh N Fabulous Flower and Gifts, 210 Second Avenue. Contact Sherri Verdec for more information at 250-757-8279 or sherriverdec@shaw.ca.
