Hope Chamber of Commerce launches new website

Redesign features improved navigation and enhanced membership directory

The Hope & District Chamber of Commerce has given its website a facelift.

The redesigned site launched over the weekend with improved navigation and an enhanced membership directory.

“It’s definitely going to be more communication-oriented,” said president Glen Ogren.

“We’ll be able to give members information on business-related topics a lot faster. It will also enable us to be a little better integrated with the BC Chamber of Commerce.”

The website now features pictures from community events rotating on the home page as well as links to news, chamber events, meeting minutes and visitor information. Regular updates will also be posted on the chamber’s Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Starting in mid-September, a new Micro-Business Training Pilot Program will be offered through the chamber in the Hope area. It’s designed to help owners of companies with less than five employees boost their skills set. Eligible participants can receive up to $1,500 for general business training in a variety of areas such as bookkeeping, marketing and sales, management, computing, websites and social media.

“This is going to help those people get a little bit of a foundation for running their business,” said Ogren, noting that the program is geared towards owners without any formal training beyond a high-school diploma.

Courses will be offered through online, classroom and seminar formats. The Canada – BC Labour Market Agreement program is funded by the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation and delivered by the BC Chamber of Commerce.
