January meeting presents PST changes and networking

The Comox Valley Home-Based & Small Business Association invites entrepreneurs to its monthly meeting Thursday at the Best Western.

The  Comox Valley Home-Based & Small Business Association invites entrepreneurs to its monthly networking meeting Jan. 3, 6 p.m. at the Best Western.

In addition to the networking portion of the meeting, this month’s meeting will feature a presentation by Donna Cloutier, CA, from Pateman & Company, Chartered Accountant. She will discuss upcoming tax changes related to the Provincial Sales Tax and the repeal of the HST.

There will be spotlight member presentations from Linda Graceffo of Sparkling Graphics & The Writer Connection and Rainy Day Books owner Ruth Diltz.

Cloutier provides personalized and practical financial advice to small businesses and non-profit organizations, assisting clients with questions and strategies regarding accounting, cash management, and corporate and personal tax preparation.

She recently completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountant’s In-depth Tax Course.

In addition to consulting, Cloutier is treasurer for the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce and vice-chair of the North Island College Foundation.

Graceffo, a graphic designer, opened Sparkling Graphics & Design in 2003, specializing in creating professional looking marketing materials and websites for start-up and small businesses.

Late this year, she opened The Writer Connection, which offers a la carte and packaged services from ghost-writing and design to marketing for self-publishing authors.

The association meets monthly from September to June.
