Ladies World Health and Fitness is making it easier for teenage girls by offering free memberships for this summer to those who are interested in the facility.

“We realize that adolescent girls can face many barriers to maintaining their physical fitness,” said Denise Hayhurst, assistant manager.

For July and August, girls between 12 and 17 can use the equipment and enjoy 60 classes a week at no cost.

“Issues surrounding body image, insecurity as well as their changing bodies sometimes means exercise can take a back seat,” said Hayhurst.

“As the mother of a teenage girl myself, I passionately believe these years are important in terms of both mental and physical development.”

Owner Goldy Sidhu recognizes the importance of developing self-esteem.

“It’s a place to go during the summer,” said Sidhu, who has a daughter in high school.

This is the fourth year Ladies World has offered free classes for teenage girls.
