A Langley craft brewery’s amber ales are golden delicious.
For Trading Post Brewing, the proof is in the pint, as the local brewery won pair of golds at the recent North American Brewing Awards in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Trading Post’s Smuggler’s Trail Rye Amber Ale won gold in the Rye Beer category — it’s the same beer that won gold in the Amber category at recently held Canadian Brewing Awards.
As well, Trading Post won gold for their Belgian Style Blonde in the Belgian Style Pale (Golden) Strong Ale category.
National attention
Smuggler’s Trail Rye Amber Ale won gold in The Canadian Brewing Awards’ (CBAs) North American Style Amber category.
This is Trading Post’s first year competing and winning at the national event.
The 15th annual Canadian Brewing Awards took place from May 25 to 27 in Ottawa.
Breweries of all sizes were invited from across the country to compete for awards in various categories, including Canadian Brewery of the Year and Canadian Beer of the Year.
B.C. breweries took home 17 golds, 20 silvers and 13 bronzes for a total of 51 awards.
This is the most the province has ever won.
According to Trading Post, with an ABV of five per cent and “huge malt flavour,” Trading Post’s brewmaster, Tony Dewald, has “created a highly drinkable ale with notes of citrus, floral and spice. Fermented with English ale yeast, this amber rye ale is the perfect pint to complement witty banter.”
