A local company that was hatched in a spare bedroom has landed an account with B.C. Ferries.
The products of Sweet LeiLani Colour Cosmeceuticals are now being carried in retail shops on nine ships.
It’s an amazing way for any company to stay afloat in a troubled economy, said owner LeiLani Kopp.
“As a Canadian cosmetics company, we are very excited to be included in the selection of products BC Ferries makes available to their travelers,” Kopp said.
“The exposure to tourists through BC Ferries has provided Sweet LeiLani Cosmetics a customer base that extends to include a loyal customer in Dubai,” she added.
“We are proud to supply a product line to BC Ferries that embraces pure, natural beauty and provides women an eco-friendly cosmetics choice.”
Kopp is a film industry makeup artist who honed her skills in Los Angeles. Her sister, Tana McNicol, has a business and marketing mind. Put the two together and you have Sweet Leilani Colour Cosmeceuticals, a line of makeup which does not contain petroleum, mineral oil, lanolin or fragrance.
Its products cover — literally — a host of skin conditions such as scarring and burns.
Four years ago, Sweet LeiLani opened its new beauty headquarters, The Cosmedic Corner, at #1 6280-202 St. in Langley. The Cosmedic Corner has branched out to become one of the first in Canada to specialize in scar re-pigmentation tattooing. For example, a woman who has had reconstructive surgery following a mastectomy can have areola re-pigmentation. People who have suffered burns and scarring are the leading candidates for tattooing, which can also be used to “replace” larger areas of skin discolouration due to disease, vitiligo, alopecia or tissue damage. In tattooing, ink colours matching skin tones are used to fill in discoloured areas.
The company is especially well known for its Skin Care Cover Stick, and its volunteer work with the Vancouver Burn Unit and dermatologists.
Furthermore, Sweet LeiLani products and services offer an alternative to Botox as none involves injecting harmful toxins into the system. Some procedures outlast Botox by several years.
