SAVE ON Foods manager Darren Davies set an ambitious challenge for his store’s Relay for Life team – raise $3,000 and he would set up his treadmill in the store and run/walk the equivalent distance to Kitimat.

Going into April 30, the day he was to set out, the team had raised $1,100.

Davies began the morning at 8 am by running for three hours.

He then took it down to a walk/run combination for the rest of the day. He finished his day at approximately 5:15 pm after raising $1400,” reports Patti Gough from the store’s relay team.

This amount, combined with what we raised from our garage sale that day, brought us to just over $3,050.”

In the end Darren reached his destination and we reached our goal. We would love the opportunity to recognize our awesome store manager, who literally gives his body for a cause, and to thank our amazing customers who cheered Darren on and generously donated to our cause,” Gough said.

The Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in Terrace takes place all day May 14 at the Skeena Junior Secondary School track.
