Maple Ridge BIA wins two awards

The Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association earned two Best in the West awards last week.

The Maple Ridge delegation of Ineke Boekhorst, Cindy Stephenson and Michelle Zazulak collected awards for the local BIA’s Back Alley Mural and Win Your Wish programs at the annual BIABC Conference in Vancouver.

The mural program won in the safety and security category. The program encourages pedestrian traffic in the alley ways of the downtown business area with a vibrant series of murals, Zazulak said.

In summer 2015, two flagship murals were unveiled in a previously dark and boring alley way, becoming the first pieces in a series of mural projects that seek to brighten our downtown core.

Win Your Wish, which won in the special events category, has developed into a much-anticipated local holiday shopping contest that attracts thousands of participants annually, Zazulak added.

Customers purchase any item in downtown Maple Ridge during the contest period, obtain a receipt, and enter it in any drop box around town for a chance to win one of four $2,000 prize packages.
